Liveable Cities, is a short talk by Prof. Jason Pomeroy. The effects of greenhouse gas emissions on the natural environment are already being seen – soaring temperatures have contributed to record breaking droughts, melting of the polar ice caps and widespread sporadic flooding. Never has there been such an important time to holistically address these issues in the design of our built environment. The accepted triple bottom line may not go far enough to address the needs of an integrated sustainable development in today’s global, culturally aware, technologically astute society. Space, Culture and Technology form, with Society, Economy and the Environment, the 6 parameters of sustainable developments that can allow us to construct more people-centred sustainable developments.
